Privacy Policy
Mowa Books is a local-first bookkeeping product published by Mowa Product Solutions. This policy explains what data is collected, what is deliberately not collected, and how anything that does leave your device is handled.
What data is collected
When you sign in
Authentication is handled by Clerk, a third-party identity provider. Clerk stores your name, email address, hashed password, and session tokens on its own infrastructure. These are required to keep your account secure across devices. Mowa Product Solutions does not store or have access to your password.
When you contact support
Messages submitted through the in-app contact form are delivered to Mowa Product Solutions via Web3Forms, a third-party email-relay service. The contents of your message and the email address you provide are visible to whoever responds.
Trial state
A single timestamp marking when your free trial began is stored on your Clerk user record so the trial can be tracked across browsers and devices.
What data is not collected
Every transaction, invoice, receipt, contact, project, payroll record, and account balance you enter into Mowa Books lives in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) only. Mowa Product Solutions has no copy. There is no server-side database of your bookkeeping data to be lost in a breach, subpoenaed, or sold.
Specifically, Mowa Product Solutions does not collect or store:
- Your transactions, invoices, receipts, projects, payroll runs, or contacts.
- Any financial figures from your books.
- Your business's tax IDs, registration numbers, or bank details.
- Browsing behaviour within the app.
Cookies
Mowa Books sets one cookie: the Clerk session cookie used to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. The public marketing site at mowa.work may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count anonymous page views; this is disclosed in-page where present.
Third parties
- Clerk— authentication and account management. Clerk's privacy policy applies to the data it holds.
- Web3Forms — delivery of contact-form submissions to Mowa Product Solutions.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare may log standard request metadata (such as IP address and user agent) for security purposes.
No bookkeeping data is shared with any third party. The integrations above are limited to authentication, contact-form delivery, and serving the website itself.
Your rights
Because the bookkeeping data lives on your device, you have full control over it at any time. You can:
- Export a complete backup of your books from the dashboard or from the in-app Settings page.
- Delete your books by clearing site data in your browser, or by deleting your Clerk account from the in-app user-profile menu.
- Request deletion of any account-level data Mowa Product Solutions does hold (your Clerk profile, contact-form history) by writing in via the contact form.
Children
Mowa Books is not directed at people under the age of 18. Accounts should not be created by minors.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in any material way, the change will be announced in-app or by email to the address on your Clerk account before taking effect.
