Terms of Service

By using Mowa Books, you agree to these terms. They are written in plain language and describe the relationship between you and Mowa Product Solutions, the company that publishes Mowa Books.

What Mowa Books is — and is not

Mowa Books is a productivity tool for keeping records: invoices, receipts, transactions, projects, and payroll. It runs in your browser and stores data locally on your device.

Mowa Books is not a financial services product. Mowa Product Solutions does not:

  • Hold, transfer, or process any funds on your behalf.
  • File taxes or remit payments to any tax authority on your behalf.
  • Provide accounting, tax, legal, or financial advice in any jurisdiction.
  • Represent or warrant that the calculations, document formats, or report layouts produced by Mowa Books comply with the laws or filing requirements of any specific jurisdiction.

The PAYE bands, tax calculations, invoice formats, payslip layouts, and report templates included in Mowa Books are best-effort starting points based on common conventions. They are not a substitute for professional advice.

Your responsibilities

Because Mowa Books is a record-keeping tool — not a financial services provider — you are responsible for:

  • Verifying every figure with a qualified accountant before relying on it for tax, payroll, or financial decisions.
  • Confirming that documents produced by Mowa Books (invoices, receipts, payslips, reports) meet the formatting and content requirements of your local tax authority and any other regulator that applies to your business.
  • Making any tax payments or remittances yourself, on time, through the appropriate channels — Mowa Books does not initiate, queue, or schedule payments to anyone.
  • The accuracy and completeness of every figure, name, identifier, and document you enter into the application.
  • Maintaining your own backups (see Security).

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. One person, one account. If your account is accessed without your permission, contact Mowa Product Solutions via the contact form so the session can be revoked.

Trial and paid plans

Mowa Books currently offers a 3-day free trial. After the trial expires, your books become read-only — you can still browse, export, and print everything, but you cannot add or edit until you upgrade. Your data is never deleted by Mowa Product Solutions as a result of trial expiry.

Paid plan pricing and terms will be published on the website once available. Continued use of paid features beyond the trial requires a current subscription.

Your data is yours

Mowa Product Solutions claims no ownership over the books, transactions, contacts, invoices, payslips, or any other content you enter into the application. Exports are unrestricted; you can take your data with you at any time, in JSON form, and use it as you see fit.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Mowa Books to commit, conceal, or facilitate fraud or any other illegal activity.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code beyond what your browser loads to use the service normally.
  • Automate the user interface or use the service in ways designed to bypass plan limits or trial restrictions.
  • Attempt to disrupt the service for other users, including by flooding the contact form or attempting to overload the authentication provider.

Service availability

Mowa Books is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Because the application runs in your browser and stores data locally, the service generally remains usable even if the public website is temporarily unavailable. Mowa Product Solutions makes no guarantees of uninterrupted access to the website itself or to the third-party authentication provider.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mowa Books and Mowa Product Solutions disclaim all warranties, express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any implied warranty arising out of course of dealing or trade usage.

Without limiting the above, Mowa Product Solutions makes no representation that calculations, classifications, or document formats produced by Mowa Books are correct, complete, or compliant with any specific tax authority, accounting standard, or regulator. Verification is your responsibility.

Limitation of liability

Mowa Product Solutions' total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to Mowa Books is limited to the fees you have paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim. If you are using the service on a free plan or during the trial, that limit is zero.

Mowa Product Solutions is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, lost revenue, lost or corrupted data (including data lost from a browser you neglected to back up), missed tax deadlines, penalties or fines imposed by any authority, or interruption to your business operations.

Termination

You can stop using Mowa Books at any time by deleting your account through Clerk or by clearing the site's data in your browser. Mowa Product Solutions can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in any material way, the change will be announced in-app or by email to the address on your Clerk account before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to Mowa Product Solutions' place of incorporation. Any dispute relating to these terms or to use of Mowa Books shall be resolved in the appropriate forum of that jurisdiction.
